What is Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP)?
Hello Readers, there are multiple pathways in Canadian Immigration system to apply for open work permit. In this blog we are going to learn about one of the efficient pathways to apply for open work permit to Canada that is Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP).
Open work permit:
Open work permits are issued to foreign nationals under specific circumstances. For example, you're a spouse of a full-time student who is studying at a PGWP eligible DLI institution in Canada or a spouse of a skilled worker who's working in one of the skilled occupations i.e TEER 0 to 3. The SOWP gives the foreign national to work for any employer in Canada.
Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP):
According to the competitiveness and public policy exemption codes in Canada spouses of high skilled workers (TEER 0 through 3) and spouses of full-time students are eligiblr to get an SOWP according to R205(c)(ii) - C41 and C42.
A spouse (a husband or wife) or a common-law partner (A person who has been living with another person in a conjugal relationship for at least one year) of a temporary resident in Canada are eligible to apply for SOWP.
