What is ICCRC, IRCC, RCIC and CAPIC?
Hello Readers, there are multiple abbreviations and acronyms in Canadian Immigration system. In this blog we are going to learn about few important immigration abbreviations and their operations.
Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council known as ICCRC
ICCRC is the national regulatory body legalized by the government of Canada to control and protect the clients of two regulatory professions Canadian immigration, citizenship and international student advising services. ICCRC was formed in July 2011 by the federal department of Citizenship & Immigration Canada, in adherence to Section 91 of the immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), which conditions anyone who is compensated for providing Canadian Immigration Services, must be registered and in good standing with ICCRC. ICCRC summarizes fundamental ethical principles and provides a comprehensive set of professional practice requirements and responsibilities with which all consultants must comply.
The legal service providers of these professions are referred as Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants commonly known as Immigration Consultants and Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors commonly referred as International Student Advisors.
Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants known as RCIC:
RCIC are licensed Immigration consultants in Canada. They must successfully complete an approved training program and an entry-to-practice exam. After graduating from the program, they must complete additional high professional requirements which consists of Continuous professional development and a mandatory practice management education course designed and taught by ICCRC.
RCIC are professional immigration consultants who assists and represents foreign nationals, temporary residents and permanent residents with immigration concerns and applications. All immigration consultants who are compensated to provide immigration services must be Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants.
Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants known as CAPIC:
CAPIC is the professional organization for immigration and citizenship consultants, founded on 2004. It was formed by uniting OPIC WITH AICC with an intention of stronger lobbying representation with the government and the regulatory body and the effective use of membership resources. They are formed to promote and protect the integrity of the profession and the immigration system.
As of today, CAPIC is the largest existing non-profit association for Canadian immigration consultants with more than 2000 members. They are determined to evolve along with the changes within the immigration consulting industry.
